Company History
Cor-Bits Coring & Cutting, LP opened its doors for business in March of 1992 from the garage of a residential lease property. Melissa Corbett, a 25-year-old divorcee and entrepreneur, contributed the capital investment with a set of ideas and beliefs to develop a dynamic business and marketing force. While leaders of the community were pushing for commercialization, industrialization, and rebirth, Melissa felt a strong will to engage in a market full of opportunity. On numerous occasions, investors rejected business plans and career objectives to reach her vision, but fittingly her mind was like concrete … thoroughly mixed up but permanently set.
Struggling through five years of vision indifferences and controversial standards, Melissa had created enough financing to enhance growth and expansion opportunities with no finish lines. She studied the laws, theories, and practices of her business community and re-registered the Memphis-based company as a LLC Corporation in April of 1998 under her sole direction. Melissa began setting the standards for all other concrete pro cutters.
Under high demands, she developed a workforce of cross trainable employees to form the competitive edge. The newly structured concrete cutting business began to gain its notoriety for exceptional work performances in difficult-to-manage sawing and drilling activities. Cor-Bits reputation and work ethics have earned us bid invites worldwide.
Her Biggest Challenge: Fitting into a male-dominated industry and identifying with their psyche.
Her Greatest Achievement: Demonstrating her competence and understanding of the projects.
Her Words of Wisdom: Time becomes the most precious limited resource. Be committed, remain optimistic, strategically plan, and own the adaptability trait.
Her Necessary Foundation to Success: As a high achiever, you must find balance to set aside time for investing in your loved ones. She admits she is wiser now!
